What to do in Bad Belzig
The workshop takes place in Bad Belzig, a historic town in Brandenburg (Germany) located about 70 km southwest of Berlin. The town offers a variety of activities for leisure time (outside workshop schedule!), which might be particularly helpful for participants of the workshop that arrive on Sunday (Aug 29th) or earlier. These are some ideas of activities and places to visit in Bad Belzig:
-
- Castle ‚Burg Eisenhardt‘. Eisenhardt Castle is a well-preserved castle complex on the southwestern edge of Bad Belzig, only 10min walking distance from Bad Belzig’s main train station. First documented mention of the castle on year 997! Link
- Altstadt Bad Belzig (Bad Belzig old town). A walk around the old town is a great option for a nice and easy plan. Link
- Burgbräuhaus Bad Belzig. The brewery offers the three special craft beers (Burgbräu Hell, Burgbräu Spezial, and Burgbräu Dunkel), besides many other seasonal specialties. Burgbräuhaus Bad Belzig is also a whiskey distillery, and it organizes guided tours. Link
- Roger Loewig Museum. The Roger Loewig House, a museum and memorial, opened in the „Schweizerhaus“ in Bad Belzig in 2009. The permanent exhibition provides an overview of the life and work of the painter, draftsman, and poet Roger Loewig (1930-1997). Link
- Kunstwanderweg Hoher Fläming (outdoor art). A collection of sculpture walks in the Upper Fläming natural park. There are several routes that vary in distance. Ideal for hiking enthusiasts! Link1, Link2
- Brandenburgische Orgelmuseum. The Brandenburgische Orgelmuseum is a German organ museum in Brandenburg, located in the Marienkirche in Bad Belzig. It houses organs from 3 centuries. Ideal for organ enthusiasts! Link
- SteinTherme Bad Belzig. Thermal saline spa with water salt contents of 20% (nearly as high as the Dead Sea!). Open again to the public from June 11 2021. Opening times: 10-21h. Link
- Castle ‚Burg Eisenhardt‘. Eisenhardt Castle is a well-preserved castle complex on the southwestern edge of Bad Belzig, only 10min walking distance from Bad Belzig’s main train station. First documented mention of the castle on year 997! Link
